Everyone talks about Midjourney, but the real rebel in the AI image world is called… Nano Banana. With a name that sounds like a forbidden fruit in a Nintendo game, it actually delivers some of the most impressive image edits you can get in seconds. And text… oh boy! It is really good at that.
Nano Banana is an AI-driven image editor where you simply write what you want to see – and then it conjures it up. Want a dragon on a moped in Venice? Sure. A cat in space with a pizza hat? No problem. And the best part – faces, backgrounds, and the entire scene remain consistent. No more AI chaos where eyes melt or fingers look like octopuses.
Midjourney is the king of AI aesthetics. It generates beautiful, artistic images that make you feel like a digital da Vinci. But… Midjourney is really bad at consistency and text. Sure, there are a lot of settings to tweak and then it turns out well, but why should you need a black belt in a single service? Trying to edit a specific person multiple times? Good luck recognizing them unless you know what you’re doing.

Of course it is Google that made it as part of Gemini 2.5 🙂 It appeared on the AI platform LMArena as an anonymous challenger but it did not take long for users to find out who was behind it. It swept the floor with the competitors. But it is a bit early to say how popular it will become. Flora Fauna has already included it in its tool and the first tests I have seen show that it maintains good quality. So a little more testing is required to decide against my favorite tool which is Midjourney.

Nano Banana might have the most ridiculous name in AI history – but it performs like an image editing machine from the future. For those who want fast, smart and consistent edits this is a no-brainer. The other models have their strengths, but this is a fresh upstart that can go far. It is also nice that you can run it via API, unlike Midjourney which lacks an official one.
